Let me just start here…
IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE WRITING AGAIN!!
The last 4 months have been difficult, to say the least. After losing my job suddenly in September, I realized I couldn’t even begin to think about writing on a wellness blog if I wasn’t living a balanced life. How could I preach wellness if I wasn’t incorporating it into my own life?!
I had no motivation. No drive. I felt super down on myself, was constantly worrying about the future, and not to mention slowly but surely running out of money.
The stress was growing, and it began to show.
I’ve gained some weight, my skin hadn’t looked this bad in a while, I consistently didn’t feel well, my life was a mess.
But here I am in January 2019; new job, skin is slowly but surely calming down, and I’m confident I can shed these new few lbs in a healthy, long term, way.
I’m feeling grounded again, not as much as I’d like, but for the first time in a while I can feel things going in the right direction. This has brought a rekindling in my desire to continue Your Wellness Digest and keep sharing tips and tricks I come across throughout life.
As I look out to an exciting and fun-filled 2019, I want to look back at some of my favorite Wellness/Beauty trends, products, and movements in 2018. It was an AWESOME year for wellness 😀
I just had to start with TATCHA’s most recent primer. Hands down, the BEST beauty product, in my opinion of course. There is truly no denying it, everything about your makeup looks better when using this primer. Is it pricey? You betcha. Is it worth it? Absolutely.
I’m actually not sure when these launched, but I really credit 2018 as their breakthrough year. These liquid eye shadows are so colorful, so shiny, and so comfortable. They dry quickly, avoiding that sticky feeling, yet blend super easily. Love love love these shimmers!
This is one of those products that left me totally and completely shocked. It may not smell ideal while it’s sitting on your scalp, but let me tell you, this leaves your hair feeling as clean and fresh as a good shampoo. It’s now cut my shampooing down to twice a week, if that! Highly recommend, HIGHLY.
I have a feeling facial massaging to stimulate the lymphatic system in order to drain the fluid from your face has been around for a long time. But I feel like 2018 was really the year for facial massaging. Beauty gurus, social media influencers, lifestyle bloggers, everyone and anyone was massaging their faces to fight inflammation…and I sure as hell was one of them. Whether with a jade roller or rose quartz guasha stones or my plain old fingers, I massage my face every day.
Around 2015 we got all the reasons you needed coconut oil in your vanity, in 2016 we were hit with the activated charcoal phenomenon. In 2017 we met the Korean 10 Step Skincare routine. And in 2018, it all came full circle. Watermelon moisturizers, turmeric face masks, rose hip oil cleansers, it’s all about what we can find in nature.
Another one of those things that’s been important forever but only just started to make the rounds. People finally started to realize the state of your gut is a direct correlation to your general health. And now, as consumers, we’re finally paying attention to products that have always existed but rarely got the limelight. Things like kombucha, kimchi, probiotics, apple cider vinegar, the list goes on.
Writing this has made me so excited to see what new products and discoveries are made in 2019 in the wellness world!!
